It is the seemingly endless habit many couples have in which they will fight and makeup on a regular basis. It makes for great movies, but what works for a minute Hollywood hit is a no-go in the real world. What I mean is this:

Dear Jessica, I commend you for seeking to have a Christ-centered relationship. Indeed Christ should be the center of our lives, and we are so much happier when He is. Scripture reading is a wonderful way to accomplish that. Grams and I have read the scriptures together every day since we were married and it has been a very good thing. My first question would have to be how old are you? I hope we can agree on that. Our leaders have counseled that young people date in groups until they are ready to look for a marriage partner.

Violating that counsel would not be a good foundation for a Christ-centered relationship. If you are both of age to consider marriage, then I think studying the scriptures together is fine—though I would counsel you to be careful where you do this. Being alone for extended periods of time is not a good idea for a couple striving to live the Law of Chastity. So be careful of that. Barlow, in his book Worth Waiting For:

Praying Together

Hoping and praying that this answer would help prevent many others from falling into sin. I can control myself but every time we kiss too much it leads into a next thing and she gets really turned on and all hell breaks loose. I want to find a way to break that habit out of her. I think the fact that not kissing is an issue for her in a dating relationship is a big thing you need to consider. In marriage, when kissing, sex and the whole shabang are allowed, you will need other wholesome ways to keep things interesting.

Kissing should not be the glue that keeps you both together and interested, especially when it is leading you into dangerous territory.

Posted on August 6, by drstoop I want to report the results of a fascinating research project led by Christopher Ellison at the University of Texas, San Antonio. The results of that study were reported in a book written by a priest named Andrew Greeley. It was titled, Faithful Attraction. The numbers were 1 out of Now there is this new study that goes even further than just looking at couples praying together.

Ellison and his associates included race and ethnicity as factors, and focused on working-age adults. And they looked at four things: The effect of a couple belonging to the same denomination; 2. Their attending religious services together; 3. Shared beliefs and values; and 4.

New Year’s Resolutions for Couples

Whether single or engaged we all have thought about what our big day will look like. Love is beautiful, especially when you fall in love with the right mate that God has created for you. But the reality of marriage, is that it takes work to stay married.

Prayer for married couples. Hello Fr. Ruhnke, I was wondering if you can recommend me a book that I can buy regarding “praying together” as a married couple.

He says he wants to be with me forever and that he loves me- I mean, could see us being like that but does he really mean it or is he just saying what he thinks I want to hear? And when I said it, I would have meant it… The thing is, as I had more relationships —more falling in love and then eventually the break-up, more ups, more downs, more experience — my perspective changed and the way I was in relationships changed too… for the better. Sure, people get jaded by breakups, sometimes for a month, sometimes for several months or longer , but the ups and the downs of relationships are both really good things.

At the same time, love does not mean that you should expect him to pick up the phone all the time or text you constantly. First and foremost, get a handle about how you feel about it. A trap that I see a lot of couples fall into is that one person is annoyed by what the other one is doing, but instead of figuring out a constructive way to address it, they just hold resentment towards the other person to a degree.

Some things to consider: On the other hand, you definitely do NOT want to come from a place of blaming, assuming or attacking. Understanding is a good spot. But guess what… what made our last girlfriend happy sometimes is totally different from what makes you happy.

You may have heard the saying, “The family that prays together, stays together.” But as a young adult, fitting praying and the rosary into a busy schedule full of jobs, hobbies, and dating .

A book published by a prominent Church group invites those setting out on married life to recite the specially-composed Prayer Before Making Love. It is aimed at ‘purifying their intentions’ so that the act is not about selfishness or hedonism. The Roman Catholic church encourages couples to pray before sex to remind themselves that intercourse is a selfless act, not driven by hedonism The prayer, which appears in the Prayer Book for Spouses, implores God ‘to place within us love that truly gives, tenderness that truly unites, self-offering that tells the truth and does not deceive, forgiveness that truly receives, loving physical union that welcomes’.

Clothe us in true dignity and take to yourself our shared aspirations, for your glory, for ever and ever. The Rt Rev Paul Hendricks, who is the Auxiliary Bishop of Southwark and sits on the charity’s board, said he thought the prayer’s inclusion was ‘brave but good’. The prayers, written by a variety of authors, are interspersed with Catholic teaching on the meaning of marriage and family. The book pushes the message that marriage should be exclusive and life-long and condemns abortion.

For Catholic Dating Couples

My boyfriend and I don’t do devotions together. We talked about it and decided not to do them. Each of our relationship with God is the most important thing.

Praying together every day and especially our prayer together before going to sleep has been transforming! With everything we’ve got, we urge, invite, propose, and encourage couples to pray together daily and worship together in Church/Mass (at least) weekly!

This happened to me the other night. A dear friend and I were talking about our kids and how to help them transition from children to adults. The topic of dating and relationships came up and we started talking about my story. It somehow validates my belief that some of the teachings I grew up with were very wrong. Fear of loving and losing. Fear of making the wrong choice. Fear of getting hurt.

Fear of being damaged. Fear of not measuring up. I rejected the teachings of courtship and emotional purity when I was

Here are some ways to add some spice to your yearly celebration. My husband, Jim, and I were at a dusty baseball field somewhere in Arkansas. We were sitting on hard wooden seats in the bleachers, watching one of our sons play ball. And I turned to Jim and said, “Happy Anniversary! Do you have a similar story? Maybe you handed your spouse an anniversary card while heading out the door to work.

Praying with someone you are dating can be a powerful way of building spiritual intimacy. After praying together alone, many couples will feel a deeper connection to each other. Early on in a relationship this could make a couple feel like they have a deeper connection than they really do.

Does that sound helpful for your relationship? Prayer takes you out of your ego and mind into your Spirit and heart. It also gives you both a higher purpose. I also knew that it would be an inexpensive, enjoyable and meaningful date night at home. As a Relationship expert, I knew the common issues that couples experienced so I wrote bath meditations that addressed them. According to the research, prayer helps people to release their burdens, to be less aggressive, to increase self-control and well-being.

To create a sacred bath first create a sacred space in your bathroom together.
